Goodbye Professor Pickett~
This class has been awesome. I have learned so much and have had so much fun in doing so. Thank you Professor Pickett, for helping me understand the lesson plans, no other professor took time to help me understand that and I really appreciate it. I hope to take you for future classes. You have taught me so much about Literature for Public Schools, really, I am now a regular at the Downtown Central Library, and I hold my head up higher each time I walk in there because I know what I am doing in there now. Thanks again. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Day 3 & Day 4 of the Genre Presentations
I really enjoyed, "The Giving Tree," I loved the narration. It was great. I heard that Shel Silverstein is slower than that, well I thought they did a great job. I got into the animated story. I was really impressed.
Day 4's presentations were done on multicultural and mystery genres. The multicultural video of the story, "Magda's Tortillas," was really cute and funny to watch. It made me want to make a similar video and I think I will remember that presentation forever. The mystery genre was awesome. I liked playing the game and popping the firecrackers in class. Great job guys!

Day 2 - Genre Presentations
For Day 2, I was there, because I was part of the 2nd group who did Fantasy. The first group was really good. They did, I believe fiction based on truth, which is called Factional. But they never stated what Genre they were presenting, I had to ask the girl when I was leaving. I don't think it mattered because their presentation was really good. The ending was the best part, and none of us were expecting it. It was very touching, the song, Amazing Grace, sang so beautifully with the power point of the homeless people. Professor Pickett was right, we need to keep these people in mind when it comes to the holidays. Some people, my boyfriend being one of them, always criticizes the homeless, because there are certain homeless people by our house who are always drinking alcohol. But you can't base what you see one person doing and expect all people to be the same. Especially when it comes to poor defensless children who are suffering for other reasons, and I have seen first hand children who aren't looked after properly. It's very sad, but they cannot be judged, and you must let them escape the pressures of reality in your classroom. I believe this presentation brought this issue to light for a lot of us. I am not going to comment on our project, because, well, we did it, so I will leave that to you all.
Day 1- Genre Presentations
I was absent on Day 1, but I heard the first group set the bar on the presentations. I heard they did stick puppets and had an activity where everyone made their own. They also did movie maker, Professor Pickett's fave! I heard they set up very well and were well prepared. Good job!
